Tight lock type H coupler
The tight-lock Type H coupler, like the Knuckle coupler, is based on the design of the Janney coupler. This type of coupler is particularly common in the USA.

FRONT COUPLERS
The Dellner tight lock type H is available for regional, intercity, high-speed trains and railcars. It complies with the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) PR-CS-RP-019-12 Rail Transit Standard. The coupler features an anti-rotation joint, and its design ensures that, in the event of a collision, the end frames are brought together in a way that minimizes vertical and lateral movement between the coupled vehicles and the impacting vehicles.
Product details
For regional, intercity, high-speed trains and railcars
Mechanical coupler: AAR Knuckle type
Capacity: buff and draft (3650 kN / 2000 kN)
Anti-rotation (203 kN-m)
Spherical rubber bearing pivot
Shear indicator
Simple mounting with four bolts
The tight-lock Type H coupler is rigorously tested under both static and dynamic conditions and is equipped with a mechanical Knuckle coupler head. It features a rubber draft gear for regenerative energy absorption, while non-regenerative energy absorption is controlled by a deformation tube. The force and stroke characteristics of the deformation tube can be adjusted to meet the crash energy management requirements of the vehicle manufacturer.
