Gap Protector is a system designed for securing train departure with platform screen doors in automated metro environments. While platform screen doors enhance safety, residual risk can still be met in certain circumstances, particularly the possibility of a passenger becoming trapped between the train and the platform façade during departure. This risk is mostly present in stations with curved platforms, where gaps may form at the interface between the train and the platform screen doors. 
The Gap Protector addresses these challenges with an automatic detection system that:

• Monitors the space closest to the train body
• Detects safely (SIL3) If a person is present in hazardous gap
• Gives feedback that prevents train departure and allow to take appropriate actions to restore safe conditions (e.g. reopen the platform doors to release the individual

The system is ready for:
