Brake Cylinder
BOGIE BRAKE
Brake Cylinders receive the pressure delivered by the brake group and convert it into braking effort on the wheel.
The brake cylinder is connected with the rigging system and slack adjuster, which amplifies the braking effort. During brake application, air pressure is introduced into the cylinder by the brake unit.
The piston moves the rod and applies the brake shoes on the wheel via the rigging system and the slack adjuster.
During brake release, air pressure is exhausted from the cylinder and the piston and rod return to their original position by means of the return spring.
Brake cylinders are available in different sizes and can be fitted with or without fulcrum point.
